Hilton Hotel, Tobago

The Hilton Hotel, Tobago, is the key stone of the Tobago Plantations Resort Development.

Martin Band and his landscape team were commissioned from the start ensuring the project benefited from a careful and well-considered integration of landscape and architecture.

The main challenge was to design a luxurious tropical landscape which could survive the prevailing salt laden winds. We developed an informal, beach front character to the seaward side using coral stone walling, timber decks cantilevered over sunken pools and robust, salt tolerant native planting. To the landward side of the hotel the design was more formal, with grand landscape and architectural statements punctuated by lush, colourful tropical planting.
